@lonathecat, I have to say that the LoTR books are better than the movies, but the movies really made the books come alive for me. I can’t really choose a favorite between the three books or movies, though. They’re all really good.

When I have time, I will definitely look at getting Beren and Luthien from the library. Have you ever read Tolkien’s Farmer Giles of Ham or Smith of Wooton Major? I’ve enjoyed both those short stories.

@arindown, I get your writer thing. (Would it be weird to name my kids [assuming I marry and God blesses me with children] after my own book’s characters someday? 🙂 ) I actually have a copy of my book’s tentative map up as a decoration in my dorm room. It’s so fun to meet people who understand what it’s like to be a young, Christian bookworm and hopeful author.

I mentioned some of my favorite books in my original post, but here are a couple I forgot to put up there: The Thirteen Series by Trisha Priebe, The Dragon Courage series by Kandi Wyatt, and the DragonKeeper Chronicles by Donita K. Paul.
