Well, I’ve always loved writing characters (they’re usually the idea that come first, and then I build a story around them). But one of my bigger breakthroughs recently was realizing that the plot has to directly affect the characters, and directly matter to them, even if it’s still a world-changing plot. (Idk, is this more a plot breakthrough? Haha…)

But it helped me think about how I can develop my characters’ backstories and give them motivation to do whatever needs to be done in the story.
