Alessio’s face seemed carefully blank, and his silence stretched so long Leana wondered if she’d forgotten something very very important.

“That- That’s excellent.” He smiled, almost fakely, and stammered.

She nodded slowly. Okay. “Alright.” *hesitant smile* “If you think of something else, will you let me know?”

Alessio put his fingers up and grabbed for something that wasn’t there. The hood? His whole body seemed to stutter, when he grabbed air… Leana’s chest tightened and her eyes rushed with concern. Are you alright? 

“We could still use some dried fruits and meats,” He went to the strange spout, almost in a cloud, and rinsed his hands,  “but since we’ll need to travel as light as possible I believe that should be all.” He looked back at the spigot, and squinted like he wanted to take it apart.

Leana smiled, softly, and set her pan aside. Another maid picked it up, to ‘take care of it’, like they had with all the others thus far.

“Parchment?”

The word was so soft Leana almost missed it. Her eyes darted back to him. Parchment? Like… to write on?

“To take notes and learn about the Star Breather. If…if you’d be willing to teach me?”

Leana’s eyes widened, in shock. The Star Breather? “You wish to know of the Star Breather?”

Alessio glanced into her face, almost afraid.

Do you expect me to say no? Her blue eyes sparkled. I’ll tell you what I know! And answer the questions I can.” Though, I’m not near as eloquent as Father. *doesn’t know what paper has to do with that*

Saeb Lyn entered the kitchen, and glanced around slowly. Leana smiled softly toward him.

“Alright,” Arsene sighed, but his eagerness caused a jump inside of Leana. “What needs to be done?”

“Is there anything that is needed?” Saeb Lyn.

“Yes, Mr. Gray Softie,” Arsene. Leana set her jaw and sent the man an annoyed glare, but he didn’t stop smiling. “I’m sure there’s something to do around here. Just ask Mrs. Leana. She seems to have taken over the kitchen now.”

Saeb Lyn sighed, “What is required here?”

“I don’t have to call you Saeb Lyn. If they’re going to torment you, so.” But… it might not stop. *flashing memories of soldiers* Leana sighed, shoulders slouching, before looking at the four of them- Arsene, Crorie, Alessio, & Saeb Lyn. “Come and sit in a circle. Everyone gets a pan.” (After they sit, she’ll tell them how much of each ingredient to put in.) “It doesn’t have to taste good. It just has to be edible, and enough to keep us from starving. We’re not putting in leavening, because that will just take up more space.”
