“I agree!” Karim shouted back. “Hang on! Just let me clear a path!” Ducking a strike from a guard, he moved his staff into his left hand, and ignited his right hand. The guard in front of him fell back, shocked at the sight.

“Go as soon as there’s an opening!” Karim concentrated, and the fire surrounding his hand grew until he had one of the biggest fireballs he’d ever created surrounding his fist. All the guards in his immediate vicinity quickly moved away. He then dashed the fireball to the ground, a blazing inferno reared up. Now, all of the guards were moving back.

“Go go go!” Karim yelled. The flames wouldn’t last long on the stone floor. Sweat trickled down his face as he manipulated the fire until there were openings in the flames. Delton and Aleck leapt through, racing for the hall. Karim the followed, walking straight through the fire, willing himself not to burn. He made it through as the angry guards tried to find a way around the flames to attack. Then, Karim stopped using his powers to keep the fire in existence, it started dying immediately. He caught up with Delton and Aleck and the trio ran off down the hall.
