Jumping in here kinda in the end without reading every single previous post. But at any rate, I am an INTJ, so concerning the original post, I speak from personal experience.

I do have a tendency to consider myself intellectually superior to most other personality types. But I do NOT consider myself to be superior to other personality types.

Here’s the deal, as n INTJ, my dominant function is introverted intuition. my secondary is extroverted thinking. This is a pretty powerful combination. I can often see patterns, trends, implications, and hints that other people tend to miss. I can often predict the not-too-distant future through gut instinct. I  channel all my theories and conclusions through raw logic.

But logic-oriented personalities do tend to be a minority in the world these days. So its hard to live life and not feel *smarter* than the rest of the world.

But smarter doesn’t equal superior. I know because I have spent four and a half years employed in construction, a trade that demands constant awareness to my immediate surroundings and immediate reactions to variations within these surroundings. This is a setting best suited to people with a strong connection to extroverted sensing, which is my weakest cognitive function.

What am I like at work? Constantly spaced out, deep in the darkest corners of my head, doing what introverted intuition does best. And this creates serious problems all the time. I am physically and mentally incapable of paying sufficient attention to the external world. I was made to do things like writing, debating, drawing, composing, and inventing. I am ill-suited to operating heavy machinery.
