@bama-rose I so agree with Nancy Drew. Also, the basic plot for every book is the same, so I got bored of that series quick.
Favorite character: There are so many to choose! *opens bookshelf* Can I go for the characters from the Seven Wonders series by Peter Lerangis? Jack, Marco, Aly, Cass… they’re so different yet I love them all. Or the two…[Read more]

Yeah, I don’t know much about this, so I’ll just see what everyone else has to say about it.

Germaine Han replied to the topic The awful dilemma: how to explain your story world in the forum Annual Theme Discussion 7 years, 6 months ago
I would handle the problem by having the character interact with the world as they see it. Sights, sounds, smells – all the senses. In this way we get the details of everyday life but don’t slip into infodumping – if done right, that is. Or have a character who’s sheltered and naive – that way someone is going to have to explain political theory…[Read more]

I put down the tray. A library would be amazing – I always dream about books anyway. After a moment’s thought I pick up the tray and set it in the kitchen. Then I follow Grace and a couple of other Saxon Scribes. To the library we go!

“Aww, thank you!” I can’t help but grin as I tag behind Eden, the smell of cookies and cocoa powder still heavy in the air. I can barely smell it anymore as my senses grow used to it, but the air changes when I exit the kitchen. I run after Eden, my smile growing wider with every step I take.

@eden-anderson That’s not too bad, I haven’t written anything today, story wise.

Right now all I can think of is someone calling, “someone yell at me to write” and someone online answers with “GO WRITE”, but that may not be very efficient, @eden-anderson?

That’s not bad of an idea. I currently don’t have any words down at the moment and someone telling me to go work and be productive could work 😀

I blink, surprised. Then I quickly set down the cookies and return the hug, not sure whether to smile or cry or anything because there’s so much warmth and friendship around me. “Hey, Eden.”
The whole kitchen smells like chocolate and it’s amazing, everything’s amazing.
I love New Wessex.

I perk up. There’s a kitchen? I go down to the right and enter a chef’s dream. Creamy white cupboards, a spotless floor, beautiful French windows that let the sun in – everything is perfect. I stare at everything, awestruck.
Then I snap back into action and begin opening things and closing them. I see cutlery, bowls, plates – everything one could…[Read more]

I shift uncomfortably. I know my lack of social skills means a good amount of awkward silences. But still I try to say something anyway. “It’s all right. We’re here now.”
After all, there was never a New Wessex in the old kingdom.

I glance at Kate and see her hesitation. “I miss it,” I answer quietly. “It was beautiful.” I smile sadly. “It still is.”

I pause. This is what has happened to discussion if I leave the hall for a couple of weeks? Of course, I should have known. The guild wouldn’t be itself if it didn’t dive into an odd topic or so every so often.
“Well,” I say slowly. “I haven’t had raspberries in a long time.”
