First of all I really appreciate this conversation. Etiquette and chivalry are often so underrated, which makes me very sad. One of the reasons I enjoy going to English Country Dances in my area every year, is simply because of the very polite, atmosphere where chivalry and etiquette are strongly encouraged – same reason I look forward to the protocol event I will be attending in the spring.

I think that often some people also picture being polite and chivalrous means that you can’t also be fun or interesting but only strictly boring and stiff in way, if you get what I’m saying. However, I know a few very chivalrous men  – just so genuinely polite and kind – and yet who are at the same time funny and interesting.

And I agree with you @skye I’m not a fan of weak, wimpy handshakes. I think your names for it describe it perfectly too. XD
