Quin/Qatar
“You’re a terrible brother, though.”
Something beyond jest was lying in the back of Qatar’s eyes.
Quin’s shoulders sagged.
“I know.” You too. He studied the floor.
Just then, a woman appeared falling on her back on the floor and jumping up again. Like a cat.
She and Locran started ribbing each other–obviously they’ve met…
“You lost your crutch–again.” Qatar’s voice cut into his thoughts.
Quin looked at the lone crutch Qatar had returned to him.
“They’re both makeshift, by now.”
“Locran did a good job with this one, but this?” Qatar picked up Quin’s other crutch. “You made it, didn’t you?”
Quin nodded. Qatar sniffed. Quin’s eyes strayed over to Locran. Something the new woman had said had stung, he could see a familiar look in the assasain’s eyes. Suddenly, he laughed.
Qatar raised his eyebrows. Quin blinked.
“Music for sore ears,” muttered Qatar. “Or music to make sore ears.”
Quin smirked. “Better than yours,” he ventured.
Qatar glared at him. “Bad timing, Little Brother. You just got me killed.” He turned away and walked off into the cave, toward two screaming newcomers. (@caladris, that would be your characters, if you want to interact). He paused by Evie and said in a low voice, “Thanks–for keeping him alive. His life isn’t his to take. That’s for me.” She looked into his eyes, startled at his sober tone.
Quin hobbled over toward Locran and the new girl. They were both smiling, but underneath he could sense a tension. I’m used to it, I guess.
(@irishcelticredflowercrown and @rose-colored-fancy whichever of you wants to interact with Quin–or neither–go ahead and claim the conversation. Otherwise he’ll go find Ruan or somebody. 🙂 )
