Activity

I stand in silence as Kate finishes reciting her poem.

There is nothing to say.  I have no words. The heart wrenching beauty of her poem claws at my very soul, and I feel tears spring to my eyes.

Beside me, Rachel claps for her. And well she deserves the praise.

Mutely, I hand the tray to Germaine. I have to go…I have to get away. To think.

“Thank you.” I manage to whisper. “Thank you, Kate.”

I slip away, the tears sliding down my cheeks.  I don’t know where I’m going…there’s a hall to the left and I take it.

Just let me wander in silence and peace. I’ll come back.
