“Cathedrals, churches, any holy place–they don’t like me,” she said with a shaky voice, “I’m a mix of two demons, native American and Japanese. I’m not supposed to be in sacred places, they reject me. I’m an abomination.”

Rei’s hands shook as her claws lengthened, “Whenever I can’t get out of a holy place, I’m forced into a less dangerous form. She felt the seizure come on and her bones popping and cracking. A scream rippled through her and it morphed into a yelp as the transition ceased.

She nosed her way out of her pile of clothing and stared up at Karim, then let out a small chirp.

Rei was a fox.
