Vicq woke up to hands shivering down her back, and she whipped upright, scaring Ash, who was on the other side of the cage. No one was behind her, and now the cage was swinging. Vicq shook off the hallucination as Ash touched her arm and looked up at her.

“Vicq,” she whispered, voice a little husky, and the wolf girl dropped to the bottom of the cage. Ash wrapped her arm around Vicq’s and set a head on her shoulder.

As far as Vicq knew, Ash didn’t know about her subtle hallucinations, but she did know about her sugar shakes, which she had because her blood sugar was too low from to eating.

“Eat for me,” the girl pleaded, but Vicq shook her head.

“I’m not hungry, and besides, there’s only enough food for one person,” was her reason. it was weak, but Ash didn’t push it.
