we’re thinking about opening up the weekly discussions to the entire forum, and changing their structure – because it isn’t something that we have found pulls the guild together, and may in fact be more helpful to more people if it was carried out on the general forum.
I agree with them being on the general forum. I think. I don’t think it would take anything away from the guilds by doing so. Fellow guild members still might interact on it. But so would other people. But I think that would work for the goal of that thread.
@princess-foo Yes! That was so much fun. 😀
So I (or someone) should probably just plan more write-ins/chats in Hangouts.
This was the schedule doc thing.
+ = That person can probably make it most of those days
– = That person probably can’t make it most/none of those days
Anyone, feel free to it. There were more, but they were til a certain month so they were removed.@morreafirebird Live interaction sounds like a great idea. But my shy introvert self is already scheming how to get my cat to sit in my place. But he’s pretty smart and it probably wouldn’t be too hard. And I already trained him to sit… Until he realizes that if he doesn’t cooperate I have to bribe him with treats. XD
Maybe one day…Weekend event for all the SE Guild members.
Real-life Guild War/Workshops.
Guild costume contests.
Mock battles.
Write-offs.
Poetry slams. That sounds like a conference! A Story Embers conference would be epic! 😀
Some of that could maybe be online, but some of it sounds like it would need to IRL.but maybe have it in several different places so people from the west coast don’t have to go all the way to the east coast, and vice versa.
That makes sense. Maybe that could work. Somehow… With some part streaming from one coast to the other. Or something.
@kelly-lundgren Yeah the page reloading is the only way I can’t figure out how to get a lost post back… But I recommend copying your comment every now and then as you type if it’s long or your computer seems to be in a mood for refreshing.
But you might not hang out with the same people who just saved your life when it’s time for dinner, if you know what I mean.
I’m just imagining that scene. XD
Person: You just saved my life, but I need to go eat dinner. Bye.
Other Person: Okay. Bye.
Person: *does not eat dinner with the person who saved their live* *eats soup* *contemplates existence*Why is that funny. idk. XD
Was that the Ydubs conference from your blog or did you go to Realm Makers and I totally missed seeing you there?
@karthmin
I asked my brother for ideas… that was a bad idea…
Catwing: Do you have any ideas for guild activities?
Brother: What about Kill Your Comrade?
C: …What…
B: You write a story where one of your guild members die.
C: …That’s a terrible idea… *shakes my head* XD
B: You think it’s funny and your friends are as weird as you so they would probably think it’s funny too.
C: *still shaking my head*
B: And they live in Australia and there’s a bunch of dangerous things there.
C: *thinks, actually most of them don’t live in Australia…*
*conversation trails off into snakes, spiders, and danger*
I only have one sibling. So yeah this is the same one who wrote “My Sister Logged in One Night” hit single. XDAnyway… I remember during Nano was the time I really got to know some of y’all cause people were on more cause of that. And the mini word wars/sprints were really good.
So some ideas that are as terrible as Kill Your Comrade…
~ Skirmishes: Mini battles within the guilds. (idk how this would work. And the only event I can think of is word wars)
~ Raids: I’m not sure what the events would be (anyone see a trend here?), but I’m thinking of it being like a bigger version of the Guild Wars. They wouldn’t happen as often (quarterly? or something?). Basically I’m thinking they would be like the Olympics as in they’re the sort of thing people think, “Oh wow that big event. I want to get better so I can score well (or whatever the goal is). I’m looking forward to the next one.”
Kind of… idk. Ideas and thoughts welcome. 😛@karthmin
Side thing, I think maybe the Word Wars might be running the hard way. It seems like everyone just sends their counts onto a big form and they are then counted. Maybe there could be a form for each guild. That way someone doesn’t have to sort all the people in the one big form. The guild masters could have their own forms to collect the numbers and then send the numbers in (The grand total and the highest word count with the name of who submitted it). Then they can be announced as normal. There could be one for the general form as well. That way it isn’t as much work for one person and no one has to go through all the submissions to sort everyone into their guild.
Also just a thought. Whoever counts has probably thought of this, but I’m just going to say this in case they didn’t think of it. Different people have different ideas. I know that y’all are using Google Forms. So if you count up all the numbers in the Summary section. Then count which row the highest number is. Go to Individual, click the “1 of #ofsubmissions”, enter the number. Poof! Double check that it’s the right number. And there’s the name of the person with the highest word count. 😀
