1113 today! It’s Tuesday night in my time, but I suppose I can still do a little more in the morning. Might not have time though as I’ve got all kinds of work to do for the end of the month.
My writing today included an odd plot bunny where everyone’s watches were stuck on 3:45 over and over. I have no idea where that was trying to go.

138 yesterday. Going out on Monday evenings does not help my word count. But dancing and talking with people does count as research. And I got the book review done, and I now have an idea of some of the changes I’ll might implement in the second draft of my current story.

786 and I didn’t get any outlining done. Started writing something else and it kept going.

@wordsmith 444 words isn’t bad, but I’ve been leaving it until late in the day when I don’t have my best words, and I’m not likely to go much beyond that.
@brandon-miller I have a tendency to quit outlining before I get to the last part of the book, and though I had an idea of what would happen, the story has spun off course, and I don’t know how…[Read more]

884 today.
I’d hoped to do more, but the climax felt apart on me again, and I had to turn to brainstorming it again. I’d got something wrong in the lead up.

I’ve not been making huge word counts lately, and I doubt I’ll be able to get much more than my daily minimum of 444 words done of the weekend, but I’ll see how much I can get on the other days.

New Wessex. I didn’t even know before today that there was a New Wessex. But I have been living under a rock when it come to Story Embers.
692 words today. I could write more, but I do need to sleep.

I’ll be stuck in the middle of re-writing and editing a book I hope to have finished in December. So I’m not doing NaNoWriMo properly.

@rolena-hatfield I’m not really good at picking favourites, and it’s been a while. But I do really like Princess Braith, and Mor is up there too. All the characters are great though. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book. I’ll need to reread this one though.

Finishing things is one of the best feelings.

Brie Donning replied to the topic Why I "hate" time-travel stories. in the forum General Writing Discussions 7 years, 10 months ago
I don’t mind time travel within certain boundaries. These cases are okay.
A: It doesn’t mess with the timeline, the time travel always had happened, and you can’t change a thing.
B: It creates alternate timelines so you can’t get back to where you were.
This means not travelling into the future and coming back from it. Because travelling back…[Read more]

Brie Donning replied to the topic Plan of Attack for Choosing Character Names? in the forum Rillumen’s Writing Discussions 7 years, 10 months ago
I use a mixture of inventing names, looking through lists of name in the desired language, looking at meanings of names and using random generators to get ideas.
I’ve got one main character whose name keeps changing spelling, and another in the same story who had a different name for two third of the draft. And I cringe whenever I see that…[Read more]

@brandon-miller The events of that subplot are still there (Though I had some thoughts today which might end up changing it). I just found I couldn’t show it on the page. I’d only written the parts that meshed closely with the rest of the story, so I’ll just have to find a way to show what I need to from one of my other POVs.

Brie Donning replied to the topic Dumb things writers do.. or maybe it's just me in the forum General Writing Discussions 7 years, 11 months ago
First drafts I do a bit of editing if I write on the computer, but I don’t tend to stress over it. It’ll usually be bigger plot level editing too, and still leaves my first draft in a mess. And I’m okay with that. It’s the later drafts I have trouble with. Then I stress over whether I’m using the right words.

I got to be an advanced reader for The Story Peddler. So good. I think the series is going to end up on my favourites list.
The whole story is beautiful, the characters are brilliant, and I love the theme. My brother (#3) requested it through the library based on my recommendation. He’s read it now, so I should find to find out what he liked…[Read more]
