Honestly, you’re pretty spot on

He’s normally very calm and tries to rationalize situations. He can be a bit stubborn at times. He is a very caring person and is great at handling situations diplomatically. He hates seeing others with power refuse to use it for good. Your last bit does make since in my mind, as he is very aware of how the world works, but has yet to experience it for himself.

5) Would you be friends with that character?: I think so, yes

Yes. Definitely.

6) Any other details you may have gotten from the picture: he seems artistic (from his jacket) and also seems like he’s slightly confused at what/who he’s seeing

He is artistic and naturally curious. He hates unanswered questions.

7) What would this character’s nickname be?: Mr. Thinker (that sounds so corny)

Sunshine, Glowstick… these make more sense if you now about his powers

He is a very caring individual and will jump to help or defend someone else

He hates asking for help and burdening others with his problems. Also, he has difficulty starting new relationships out of fear that others only want to friends with him because they want something from him.

“This is a horrible idea. Yes I’ll still help, I just felt like that needed to be acknowledged.”

I associate him with gold, silver, and black, but royal blue is also a color I associate with his dad

Dad is alive, they have a very close relationship, mother disappeared in a tragic event, and he technically doesn’t have any siblings, but he does have some close family friends who are practically family, two of which function as his annoying and protective big brother and sister.

13) Single or taken?: single; not ready to be in a relationship

Single, but he has a bit of a crush on the girl who saved his life

Sketching and painting. He does have a swiss army knife assortment of skills, so I’m very certain those things are within his field of knowledge, which includes things from picking locks to ballroom dancing.

His family made sure he was very well educated.

16) Greatest fear: that he might intentionally hurt those he loves (don’t ask me how XD)

I think it’s failure. Failure to help, letting his family down. Also discovering a dark family secret and what it means about who he is. And losing what’s left of his family. I don’t think I can really sum it up to one, let’s say he has quite a few problems.

17) Dreams and Aspirations: travel the world taking pictures of plants, mountains, animals, cities, etc.

He isn’t sure what he wants, outside of having his family safe and whole again. He’s a bit of a romantic, and probably just wishes he had someone who’d brighten up his world.

He doesn’t know what it is yet. He knows there is one, but its nature is a secret.

First two definitely.

As mentioned before, he has a strange amount of knowledge about a strange assortment of things and is a scarily fast learner. Also, if a mystery really bugs him, he’ll get invested and obsessed. He also is an insomniac and the only time he’s slept in-story so far was the result of a concussion.

20) The meaning of their name, (Either real meaning or your own story meaning): all the names I listed above are related to light

The light meaning really works with his powers. Unfortunately, I named him when I was too young to consider clever names, but I’m far to attached to ‘Michael’ now to change it.

I love your artwork! They’re so good! Do you have any tips about drawing characters? 

Thank you! I’m not sure what I can do for tips, I am just winging it half the time. I’d say don’t be afraid to use references, and it helps to understand the basic shapes and proportions of people and creatures. As for the design, like the traits and colors themselves, figure out what you want someone to think or gather from this character at a glance. That’s all I can think of at the moment.
