It is highly entertaining to write, and while it is complicated to handle the fourth wall awareness (there’s a reason people don’t write about these types often), I’m excited to finish it. I have a few stories planned for the same world, so this is kind of an introduction to how things work before stuff starts getting crazy. Because I have a lot planned. This world is one of my babies. XD

Oh, it’s just the best when you fall so in love with a world! I can imagine it’s hard to write! What are some of the ways she interacts with the fourth wall?

Sadly, I’m only fluent in English. But since my goal is to change that, I figured I might as well start somewhere. And yes, Latin kicks butt hard. I only got halfway through level 2.

What’s your favorite language to write in?

I write pretty much exclusively in English. Even though it’s my third language my vocabulary is definitely the best and I just love it as a language. I love the sound, I love the pretty words, and most of the books I read are in English anyway.

I want to maybe write something short in Afrikaans one day, (it’s also really special to me but the language is unfortunately dying) but I cannot spell it for the life of me XD What’s hard about it is that I can’t share it, so it’s hard to motivate myself to write it.

Well… for this particular WIP it was Marvel’s The Unbelievable Gwenpool by Christopher Hastings. I hope that I can pull off the combination of chaos and order like he did, because that character arc was really something.

But in general, I find Angie Sage, Brandon Sanderson, and Rick Riordan to be inspiring. Angie Sage does some wonderful work with points of view in her Septimus Heap series. Brandon Sanderon’s magic systems and worldbuilding are to die for (metaphorically, of course). Rick Riordan inspires me to write a story that has just as much thought, and reach, and relatability while staying true to God and my personal convictions. Because let’s face it, it would be awesome to have a Christian-friendly version of Percy Jackson and the Olympians and Harry Potter. (Although I’m not a fan of Rowling’s work since I feel like it just falls flat.)

That’s so cool! I’ve only read Skyward and Starsight by Brandon Sanderson, but none of the other authors 🙁

Ah yes, the dreaded question… right now it’s a toss-up between The Terrible Two by Jory John and Mac Barnett and The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson.

That sounds really cool! I really like Sanderson’s style! My favorites (I cannot narrow down on one XD) are the Red Ribbon by Lucy Adlington, The Book Thief by Markus Zusak, and the False Prince by Jennifer A Nielsen. I have more but that’s probably my top three!

Granted, I never did finish the trilogy, but I am amazed that a traditionally published book can be that awful, assuming that editors were involved in the process.

LOL I have those kinds of books too XD I have a few books (or even series) that are terribly written but I read them to remind myself that the bar is much lower than I think XD

I knit, read (obviously ;P), draw/paint, and sometimes have time to practice cello. I used to do more before A) the pandemic B) college.

Oh, that’s awesome! I know how to knit too but don’t do it an awful lot anymore. I mostly sew and embroider. I draw too! What medium do you use? I’d love to see some of your art!

The cello is such a beautiful instrument! I play the celtic harp!

Besides those things I do HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts), and ride my horses!
