    @rose-colored-fancy

    How are you finding the feedback? Are you spotting any patterns or is everyone violently disagreeing?

    I’m afraid to say that the feedback is all over the place. xD Some of my betas really liked a couple of the characters, and others thought those characters had serious problems (and vice versa).

    I suppose the most common agreement is that the fight scenes to be edited and shortened (though one of my beta’s likes them a surprising amount xD)

    He’s just slower throughout the entire first half, so at least I have the other POV where something is happening.

    I personally really enjoy books with multiple PoV’s that are on vastly different places in their arcs.

    I set my goal at 1300 words a day, which is a pretty small goal, I can finish it in about an hour. I can usually do more, but I purposefully made my goal small because otherwise I get overwhelmed before I even begin writing. Now I can hit my goal quickly and that usually encourages me to keep going.

    A wise idea. What do you usually end up writing on average each day?

    I have been participating in Crazy Writing Week this week

    This week, I’ve already written 20k and I have two days left. (I’m trying to see if I can somehow hit 30k

    Wow, 30k in one week? That’s great! I’ll have to look into this crazy-writer-week thing. When does it usually take place?

    The Book Thief

    I’ve considered reading that for a while now. Perhaps I shall sometime.

    I also got someone else who is going to start beta-reading the first book in a few more weeks, which is absolutely terrifying, in a good way

    It’s invaluable, and it’s fun. 🙂

    Are you finding writing a second book easier than your first?

    Oh, definitely. The words and sentences come easier, and I’m able to write for longer periods at a time.

    The plot on the other hand, is actually quite a bit harder to present. It is way more complex than TTD, and presenting that in a coherent way gets rather difficult.

    Is there anything that has surprised you about it so far?

    That’s an interesting question. 🙂 One thing I didn’t expect to deal with is mood swings in my characters. I’m a firm believer in humor or lightheartedness in a book to make it less dark or grim, but it gets difficult to balance that with character arcs or flaws that stem from rough experiences or pasts. In other words, balancing grim reality with humor gets difficult. I’ll just have to wait for beta readers to tell me if there are scenes where that happens, because I have a hard time deciding that for myself.
