Once the strange woman sheathed her weapon, Glenesh dipped his head – a simple motion he hoped would convey the intent of formality without risking the mistranslation of a more intricate gesture, “greetings, Eliane a’Mylneth, child of Alegrin and Illyara.” He then turned to the slight woman, clearly frightened, and gave her a small smile “and hello, Elina.”
Glenesh breathed deep, mustering his mind and presence before speaking, keeping his voice calm but resolved. “I know this situation is overwhelming for all of us, but if you will bear with me a moment, I can inform you of what little I know and what I can so far guess… and maybe even come to a few answers. Firstly, I do not mean you harm. Second, I do not believe either Nadia or myself are responsible for our arrival here. We are not natives of this place, only arriving moments ago, and judging from your demeanor, this is the same for you. Lastly, I do not think we hail from the same lands or even the same worlds. I am from a world known as Epoch, and I can tell that you are not… and I do not think any of us here recognize your kind, Eliane.”
Giving the weight of his words time to sink in, Glenesh waited a moment before continuing. “So, where does that leave us? Well, this place is by all appearances abandoned; there is no one or nothing from here to communicate purpose. But there very much is a purpose here, things of this magnitude cannot occur apart from divine design. Since this cannot occur outside of a purpose and each of us are here by design, and while I can see no compelling purpose in our location, I must conclude it exists within each of us: we are the purpose here. So, perhaps, by getting to know one another we may unravel this mystery…”
Again, Glenesh paused, sighing gently and softening his tone “and even if our purpose does lie in this location, I do not think we should explore it alone, and I would very much not like to explore it as strangers. But I understand that you are frightened, so if you ask it of me, I will be the first to share.”
