Providence has a sense of humor. In comedic timing, as the last words were leaving Glenesh’s mouth, an aggressive “Who are you?” sounded to his right followed by small cry. Turning to see the commotion, the second noise seemingly issued from a rather petite woman of middle age, whose life must have been harder than any person he knew.

The question, however, was given by a strange creature, who stood poised with a knife at the ready. Her form, while humanoid, was clearly not in the natural human state. Such alterations were easily possible for biomancers, but it would be very unusual for anyone to maintain said alterations – that is, if she were human at all. In either case, it seemed obvious that she possessed magical capabilities. While all three of these women contained the same deadness of the world around him, this one also displayed both the aggression of the fighters in the Great Game and the wild fear of the untamed beasts. He could not imagine existing in that state… but if she did indeed have magical abilities, then this situation would require utmost delicacy.

His smile disappeared as he quickly took in the situation. Returning to his neutral voice, he answered her question: “I am Glenesh of Kaliruhm. This besides me is Nadia Fabian.” He remained sitting and unassuming, letting the plainness of his tone ease the tension a moment before continuing. “May I ask your names?”
