“I’ll fight it, sir, if you order me to.” The lad sounded like he had given up. “It would give you enough time to escape.”

“You won’t fight alone,” Nithel replied, firm. He was staring at the lad, and Virtus noted the swirl of emotion in his eyes.

Virtus really wanted to say something, but he just straightened his back and turned his eyes on Isaac. He thought this was a time to stay quiet and let the leader work things out. The soldier thought that, if they set it up right, the small group might be able to defeat this metal dragon, but to do so they would have to make a plan, and make it fast.

As if in answer to his thoughts, a low growl echoed through the room, along with the sound of claws scraping across stone.

@everyone: is this really the dragon, or another critter? ‘Cause we do have gryphons and pretty much everything else imaginable at our disposal to torture our characters with. XD
