“Can I just say this is so cool!” Ehud burst out, standing so near to Rilyn that the dragon expected Rosaria to shoot her.

Rilyn lowered her neck and studied him. Ehud’s child-like innocence surprised her, but also gave her the urge to whack him in order to show him that he should be more suspicious of strangers–especially dragons.

Ehud cocked his head to the side like a curious puppy as he waited for her answer.

But, from behind, a small hand rested itself on Rilyn’s neck. Rilyn stiffened and slowly turned to behold Riure brushing her fingers against her scales.  The blind girl seemed to ponder something before leaning her forehead against Rilyn.

“I’m sorry,” she said simply in her soft, kind voice.

Rilyn froze. How could this girl know? Somehow, in her voice, Riure had conveyed to the dragon that she understood, that she’d experienced the same pain. But it also sounded like Riure simply cared that pain and anger thundered through Rilyn, like the blind girl just wanted to help. Rilyn’s neck sunk closer to the ground, and Rilyn shifted so that Riure was now leaning her forehead against hers. Rilyn didn’t know what to say in response, but she allowed a burst of fire to bubble in her throat, causing a fresh wave of warmth to seep through her scales. A puff of smoke billowing out from her nostrils. Riure seemed to notice the pleasant heat.

However, the next moment, Rilyn jerked Riure into the air, holding her by her foreleg, talons closed carefully around Riure’s stomach.  Sadiq wildly snarled and snapped at the dragon, jumping at her, and Rilyn hissed at him.

“What are you doing?” Konyar shouted, reverting to dragon form and starting to snatch the girl away.

“Saving her life,” Rilyn growled. She gently placed the shaken Riure back on the ground, away from the tree line.

“What do you–” But Konyar halted mid-sentence as he noticed that the jello-y wall (remember that? @wingiby-iggiby created it, I think) had sprouted spikes and was now closing in around the clearing, shrinking it and forcing the occupants back into the cave.

Okay, so you guys can take or leave this, but I was thinking: “How are we gonna get these stubborn characters to go into that cave that’s obviously a trap?” And I was thinking about how cool Wingiby’s jello wall thing was, and then I was like: “What if it forced them into the cave??!” So.. what do you guys think? We can ignore the this post’s ending if you don’t like it. 😉
