“Ehud?” Riure turned her head up at him expectantly while her dog leaned into her. This was responsibility he wasn’t prepared for. The two new people had given their names, the guy Ehud hurtled into didn’t seem upset with him. So he in turn looked at them expectantly, not really used to being the person to take charge with other people or be in any position of power. But nobody here knew what they were doing so he grabbed her hand (in case Lord Castle got of a teleporting frenzy again) and tried to weight the risks.
“Well, it looks like a trap, feels like a trap…” But his innate sense of curiosity begged him to figure out if it actually was a trap. Ehud shook the thought off, then remembered Riure couldn’t read it so he tried to fill in for her. “It says it’s a test to hopefully ‘earn’ a way outta here.”
He glanced down at her and decided there was no way he’d willingly let her walk into that deathtrap. But maybe it would be…possibly a way out. It would be worth exploring if he only had to worry about himself, but as it was he didn’t trust anybody here to look after her if he did explore it.
“Maybe we should wait and see what the others do…” Ehud said ‘see’ again, he winced and glanced between the two strangers, one of whom (the girl) was still eyeing them suspiciously although she seemed friendly enough.
“Oh, I gotta introduce you to my friend.” he added to Riure, looking around for Rosario. Instead he found two more people. He stifled a laugh, this was just ridiculous now. “There’s another buncha new guys now. They’re looking as tall as royalty.”
“Hello there!” The seemingly younger one said easily “I wonder, could any of you be of any help to us? I’m looking for a little girl, about twelve years old. She has silver hair, blue eyes, and a light pink blouse on.”
“I don’t think she appeared,” Ehud said, trying to be friendly “I bet you left her in your world.”
After the incident with Kami, Ehud thought better of teasing the fancy rich guy who was too used to getting his way. Even though it was still on the tip of his tongue. He had Riure to think of. After all she had become an unintentional accessory to his provoking in the eyes of Kami last time.
“I’m sorry, sir. We haven’t. In fact, I, along with my friend here just sorta…appeared here. Do you–are you the lord of this castle?” Konyar asked which made Ehud panic, and then nodded sympathetically to the two newcomers as the cave appeared. “Yeah…I have no idea what that-” Whatever else Konyar was saying Ehud couldn’t get cos he was yelling over him.
“Don’t say that! Last time somebody claimed the castle it tried to kill us! The castle is Lord Castle, I named it, that’s it’s name. Nobody can claim the castle, it does not like that!”
Ehud paused to catch his breath. Then he suddenly realized that, as the only remaining member of the original group, he had superior knowledge of the castle. This was an intoxicating degree of power because he was the only one left who still had one of those library books. He might actually be able to bargain with this accumulated information. It only took him a couple seconds to decide he would be an unabashed ham about this.
“I could guide you through the castle if it didn’t constantly change itself.” Ehud said happily, determining not to give anymore explanation until he could get something out of it.
