Yes, I try to pick unique names in my story and my friend helps me with that. She is very good at names.

Certain stories, when thinking of names, picking a name in which the meaning is relevant to my character is very important to me. Other stories, I just want a unique name that sounds nice. I also like making all the names in my family, if I have one, complement each other too because my mindset is that the parent of the family in the story made names for their kids and they didn’t just randomly pick a name no matter how unique or common the name is.

Names are so important. In real life and in story writing!
