Wowza! Part of me is a little confused because you have to but you don’t…? But if you really need help, I may have a few ideas.
Sometimes inspiration strikes already set with a vague plot and/or character. This happens to me quite a bit with prompts. You’re a writer so I guarantee you have a list of those somewhere. 😉 Another good place is songs. There is a guy called Tommee Profitt, and he does these cinematic songs, quite a bit of them have words, being that they have some sort of a story to go with it. I’m not a huge fanatic of his work, but everything I’ve heard so far is clean. I did save one of them as inspiration.
Or, something I am doing for the first time, I have taken a short, little-known Grimm’s Fairytale and am rewriting it as a short story. The Grimm brothers have written SO MANY stories, most of them pretty short. By taking one of those, I was already given a plot and (underdeveloped) characters that I just tweaked to make my own. I personally am doing this; just started a couple days ago. 🙂
I hope that this gets the ball rolling for ideas.
