@banana-peacock-warrior, the premise is your standard “hidden world” fantasy, combined with modern fantasy. So it has the whimsy of Narnia and Disney, with the seriousness and danger of Tolkien, L’Engle, Del Toro and certain animes like Madoka Magica. I mean for the series to be fun, but to also communicate my vision of the world: that there are bad people out there, that we do have an Enemy, but he is beaten, and loosing worse all the time. But that tells you nothing about what they’re about! So it revolves around an ensemble cast of characters and their adventures in the World of Avalon and the World of Men. Characters include an Elvish Princess, a Warrior Dryad, a Half-Ogre with a Bad Attitude, and many more! There’s danger, romance, music, battle, sarcastic commentary…
The pattern I saw in Christian lit characters was… their problems were solved too easily. You can’t find a man? Your wife is sick? Your kids are rebelling? Prayer can fix all of that! It was like some kind of magical thinking, that said if you have enough faith, you can have anything you want! And I know from experience, that’s not true at all. They don’t have to wait for years and years, they get whatever they desire with a prayer. That’s not how life works. (Says the fantasy writer…) And also, there wasn’t nearly enough Christian Fantasy out there!
