I think the easy solution here is to have some good function of either the melteds or chairs, or have the MC be decieved that there is a good function to the Melteds or Chairs. After all, everyone tells him that the good function exists.

Then your climax is a “reverse tomato” moment in which the MC finds out that all of the melteds and chairs are useless anyway and evil, and destroys them all. But since the government wants the chairs and the Resistance wants the Melteds, they all go after the MC and try to kill him and his wife and pet dog for destroying their stuff. Cue epic vehicle chase in which the MC rides away on a motorcycle like Tom Cruise and his wife mans a machine gun nest to take down the bad guys.

Or you could just bring in BadCop to destroy all of the chairs and take the MC to the melting chamber. 😛 (This really sounds like the plot of the Lego Movie…)
