Oh @anne-of-lothlorien, how I loved your ranting and raving, this thing quite justified the length.
Good, I didn’t knock you over then!! Actually… If I ever meet you in real life, just warning you, I will probably be so exited that you will get quite the hug… And we’ll nearly fall because I’m not the “aww, here’s a hug” person, I’m the “CAN I HUG YOU PLEASE??? YAY!!!!” Oops… I did…
Yes… I have seen it… And it’s tolerable. I love the sister, she’s great, and everybody was 100% better casted. Speaking of casting… (About to drop a bomb and make everybody howl with outrage) Did you hear about the treason of Peter Jackson? Well… If you haven’t… He sold the film rights to LOTR to…. Wait for it (gather indignation) Amazon. When my dear Tolkien friend told me at music camp, I promptly began hitting my head on the wall of the sports center. HOW IN THE NAME OF ANYTHING DO THEY PLAN TO GET A BETTER CAST FOR LOTR????? ORLANDO BLOOM, ELIJAH WOOD, BILLY BOYD, EVERYBODY!!!!!!!! I’m really mad about it…
O.K. So back to chick flicks. LCS… Well… I hate to say this… But just about anything directed by Michael Landon Jr. is annoying to me. LCS is the best of that series… But I still… The American Frontier is just not my thing… I can handle most of Little House on the Prairie, some of those episodes have me howling… But no… AF… Just can’t get into it.
O.K… So How To Train Your Dragon. I really want to watch the first one, but not the second one. I know some people will disagree with me on this, and I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with watching it, it’s just my choice right now. The second one has a gay character. Some people might be falling out of their chairs reading this, but because I’ve never seen the movies and heard about this first… So basically there’s a line where a guy says something about how he will never get married upon seeing a couple fighting, and “the other reason”. I know this isn’t a huge ordeal, but there was a nasty discussion by the cast about how they threw that in there to make him gay… And after reading it it disgusted me… So, for me, I’m just not going to do it, basically for the same reason I didn’t watch The Beauty and the Beast when it came out. It was sort of the same thing, just it wasn’t so trumpeted.
O.K. Weird soundtrack question… Where do you stand on The Greatest Showman? I will not watch the movie, I refuse (more because of me being quirky/there was a huge ordeal with some friends falling all over it when it came out and it was ridiculous). My Tolkien friend and I who stand on an island refusing to watch it like very few of the songs, Never Enough was the first. So… One of my friends ranted and raved about Zack Efron at first, and so when I finally heard him sing/saw a picture, my reaction was “That’s it?” The song in question was Rewrite the Stars. I was severely disappointed by the song… But… Then I heard The Piano Guys version. *Falls out of my chair* GORGEOUS!!!! Listening to it today… I’m getting more and more excited… I can’t wait… to start playing cello… In love with it right now…
I’ve seen ever single Torchlighter they ever made (I think). Perpetua is my favorite, then… I love the song at the end of it, I wish I could download it.
I LOVE THAT STORY!!!! Corrie Ten Boom is one of my heroes. Last year we went to a family conference (ATI in Big Sandy, if anybody from SE goes there, please speak up). I was doing photography team, and went to go take pictures during a session that a lady was impersonating Corrie Ten Boom… I sat in the back unable to take a single picture.
I know it… I know it… Poor broke teen trying to save up for music camp next year/Christmas gifts… BUT I WILL READ IT SOMEDAY!!!!! Actually, if you want to chuck it in my window, I’d probably fall out of bed (after the book hit me, my bed is right by my window so I could look at the stars after I took the blinds off, I mean, who wants blinds over a huge window when you live in the country??), and die of excitement.
Amen and amen. Oxford comma.
It’s Janner, and ARTHAM P. WINGFEATHER!!!!!!!! I LOVE HIM!!!!! Favorite characters… PODO HELMER!!!!!! OMW, HE IS SO FUNNY!!!!! I adore the sea dragons actually… I’m loving reading the first book to my next two siblings under me, we’re on the chapter where they are nearly thrown into the black carriage. Oh the third book… *Tries to think of a suitable noise to utter for… the emotion you feel upon reading that book* Oh man… The whole ending… The next day after I finished I wept and wept over washing the dishes while listening to MLHGATS, and my siblings just stared in shock as I bawled. That is seriously one of my favorite songs…
Nods and claps and squeals over everything you just said. Those books are simply just… Unbelievable!!!!! The only other modern Christian Fantasy I can love on the same level is The Seventh World Trilogy, it is simply AWESOME!!!! Please go read it… It’s by Rachel Starr Thomson, first book is free on kindle. GO GET IT!!!!!
Thank you again for the mixed up explanation, I totally get it. I have one of those… my dear nithen (the Tolkien friend)… Who I haven’t been able to see in forever. I tell you… Rooming with a Tolkien person/writer and being able to rant at 2:30 in the morning about writing when you know you’ll be getting up at 6:00 is just plain awesome.
Well… I wish I had an older brother… I’m the oldest of seven, and I have wanted for years to have an older brother, but that is sort of impossible, so… But as far as having more siblings, that will not happen in our family. My youngest sibling, Baby Roo Roo (yes, I call her this) is the last one because my mom had a severe health crisis with her birth, and came very, very close to dying. The doctors have all told her that having another baby could very easily kill her, so even though this has been very sad, we know that Baby Roo Roo is the last one…
Oh good, I’m not the only who tells people about the odd happenings of SE?? My Tolkien friend hears about the things going on, the odd conversations and the like. *Tries to look stern* So behave dear friends!!! (actually… which be-haloed girl needs to be told to behave…). 😉 @wordsmith, I nearly died over your response to my claiming to wear a halo last night. If anybody who knows me was told that I claimed to wear a halo, they would have the same reaction.
Cute aggression… Well, did I mention Baby Roo Roo? She. Is. So. Stinking. Adorable. It’s not just that she has the hugest blue eyes, wispy blonde hair, and cutest smile ever, but her personality is hilarious. She had quite a few funny lines that will live on in our family history from now on. In the cabin (she’s three, BTW) she was sitting quietly next to my dad and in her cute baby voice says,
BRR “Daddy, turn on the TB.” (She can’t say V)
D “No, not right now.” Then in the deepest voice she could muster.
BRR “I wunt on.”
BRR “Daddy, the TB wants on!” It was the funniest thing, we’re not over it yet.
I don’t tend to have the cute aggression of laughing when I’m sad, but if it’s the measure of wanting to grab the Baby Roo Roo and never let her go… That is very much a thing for me. So… Actually, this is sort of a sore spot for me. I am probably going to be applying this week to go to PCC next fall, and I’m super excited about it, I want to get a degree in music, probably focusing on piano or voice. That’s where music camp was, and I love the college, it was awesome, and I can really see myself growing in the Lord there, but I will miss my family tremendously. It’s especially sad to think about Roo Roo, she’s three, she’ll be almost four when I go, and I really want for her to remember me and know that her big sister loves her. So… This is making me sad to think about. So that’s why I’ll climb up and down Enchanted Rock with her, going her pace (also because I needed to go at her pace for my own good), sitting with her at church (trying not to let a certain friend of ours [who definitely has cute aggression over Baby Roo Roo] steal her), playing with her a lot. It’s a fourteen year gap, but I adore that stinker.
@wordsmith, you will never get off the hook now, how many votes have you gotten now? I lost count. Oh, and there you go, if you read the whole thing with Baby Roo Roo, there’s another name I am always messing up. My poor siblings… I call them things like Jo-Jo Gail, Babol, Di-Di, Nanol… And other nicknames, I hardly ever use real names for them.
SOUTHERN?!?!?!?!?! HERE’S ANOTHER YOU ARE AWESOME HUG!!!!!!
*WAVES CONFEDERATE FLAG AROUND WILDLY*
Then hangs it next to a Texas flag and solutes Robert E. Lee.
Thank you for being another Anne of Green Gables/Fantasy/diehard southerner odd child. And what do you know?? You come from a family with SEVEN KIDS??? Why do awesome Tolkienish folk come from seven kid families? My Tolkien friend is the youngest of seven.
O.K. so that’s three SE people with six siblings… @wordsmith, @anne-of-lothlorien and myself. Anyone else?? It’s actually really fun, but with seven kids+parents, you have nine people to match up to the Fellowship of the Ring. I was Pippin… I have a feeling that some people will not find that surprising.
Ah, you sound like myself. XD I’ve been writing and editing the same book for nearly four years, and right now, only one person is allowed to see it. Well, when do you think you’ll be ready for beta reading?
