Have no worries!! Totally get it, we’ve been in a cabin with limited internet this week, and (due to the broken laptop) at home I use the family computer for internet.
Thank you very much for the insight on multitasking. I totally agree, and am glad that I am wired that way. I told my mom that I will be surprised at nothing if I have kids one day, being the oldest of seven… you witness a lot. YES!!!!!! My brain does the same thing!!!!! One thought at a time is HARD!!!! And then the weird let your brain take the lead… yes sometimes… and sometimes if I’m lying in bed thinking I get so deep in random thoughts that my ears cease to take in sound.
YES!!! I have noticed that if nobody is around that it does seem more like that. I have had less of the comments and more just trying to get my attention or the creepy eye that I described. Possibly because I am a lot taller, and as my dad said, people will be a little more hesitant to mess with me because I might hurt them. XD I am not an incredibly strong person (today we climbed to the top of Enchanted Rock (me with a three-year-old) and when we got down, we found that my little brother’s special backpack was still up there… my brother and I ran back up to get it… he was literally dragging me up that hunk of granite by the time we got to the top), if a guy was actually trying to hurt me, it would probably end in his favor (depending on his height, weight and strength), but he would probably get hurt back to some degree. I seem to notice a lot more extremely creepy dead stares or just foolishness like guys in their cars trying to get my attention. It’s upsetting to me when I see this kind of attention, mainly because I get angry that it seems there’s so few guys left that actually (to revisit old conversations) are chivalrous. I know only a very few guys around my age that are kind, not treating me with bare politeness (when necessary) because I’m a girl, or very obviously show attention just because of the way I look. I hate it, it quite honestly makes me feel like the only things about me that have real worth or meaning are the things that guys couldn’t care less about. Not meaning to keep on harping on this, but quite honestly, I’m feeling really discouraged by certain friends who are really ignoring me and treating me in some unintentionally hurtful ways. Just because I’m not like them, they are treating me differently, there’s pretty much a clique growing that is very fickle and because I’m not like them they just ignore, laugh at me and it really hurts because some of these people I have known for a long time. Why do people care so little about the heart and so much about the external things, the way I look, the way I act? If I’m different, talk different, live different, look different, read different, why should people treat me like I’m worthless? It’s two sides of the coin, girls often treat me different because they look past the way I look and don’t get me/ignore me/are unkind, and guys either ignore me or show very obviously that the only worth I have in their eyes is the way I look, and both things make me feel worthless, which makes me angry.
Quite honestly, both you, @anne-of-lothlorien and @wordsmith (and others on this forum) have been an encouragement this week, I enjoy being able to talk about things other than celebrities, stupid fads and the rest. It quite honestly feels like this is one of the only places I can talk about some things freely without being made fun of. Thanks y’all, you really do make my day some days.
NO!!! and YESS!!!!!! Blue is my color… But not yellow… I probably wear something blue almost… Umm…. A lot. And then a ton of my stuff is blue. Yellow, well… I got my walls painted blue and yellow when I was 12 (don’t let 12-year-olds choose their wall color!!!) and I got tired of it very quickly. Nowadays, keep yellow to a minimum. As many cool tones, deeper colors and pastels as possible. Blue, purples, greens, black, white, grey, all those good colors.
Yes…. Most modern music, how I hate it!! I’m hoping to major in music in college, and first of all the musical quality drives me up the wall, secondly, the words grate against me, making the whole thing miserable. I love very little pop, pretty much just soundtrack and good old hymns (like the ones nobody knows and can’t be turned into country or bluegrass). Christian contemporary makes me want to fling something through the window for lack of musical quality and extremely poor lyrics (Andrew Peterson is the only real CC artist that I love).
Music is so powerful, I firmly believe that it is a huge poison in our culture, so many lies sung over and over and over, how I hate it.
Then I am so glad for your last point there, yes, yes, yes, I so hate how cheap and undermined marriage is in our culture. I hardly ever talk about getting married in a serious way because it is so sacred a thing in my mind, and so many things make me angry about the way it’s presented and as you put it warped. Truthfully, the things that make me want to get married most is not love songs, weddings and chick flicks (which I cannot stomach). It’s seeing old couples that still love each other after years and years. Tolkien’s relationship with his wife really has been an encouragement to me in this area.
YES!!!!! Your luck will be to marry a guy like my brother’s friend (he’s 6.10), and I’ll probably end up some guy who is but an inch or two above my head, and I can NEVER wear any sort of heel on my shoe around (gracious, I feel awkwardly tall in tennis shoes, as it adds an extra inch to my height). XD (hopefully not) Height never used to bother me, but when I realized that it did not come out in my favor to be tall and very much like Anne, always getting into trouble, I started worrying about it, but I should keep in mind what you said, God has me my height for a reason. 😉 Oh the lovely times though… when I’ve hit runners at children’s conventions in the head during the song (long arms), or tripped over small children, hit my head or a host of other awkward or painful things… Not fun…
