Haha, I’m the same. I struggle soooo much with word-count. I can churn out hundreds of ideas, build fantastic worlds, create good characters…. but when it comes to actually writing? I’m surfing Pinterest. XD
XD You may call me Inkcredible. 😉
I usually have trouble with word-count, because like I mentioned above–I love creating a story, but actually writing it…. I love writing, but I struggle with actually getting through a novel. (Not that anyone else doesn’t–I just particularly have trouble with actually sitting down and writing.) I like you tip for “write what you love.” A lot of people try to churn out genre expectations or a book that is solely written for the purpose of appealing to those who choose bestsellers/etc…. and they fall flat because there’s no heart to them. There’s no soul to them, if you know what I mean. 😉
And thanks! Battles are super fun for me to take apart and create and imagine…. so I try to best while writing them to make them as realistic yet amazing as possible. XD Especially for fantasy, when I feel like there’s always some deus ex machina that likes to jump in at the last moment. Like–in nearly every fantasy novel, we’re shown some amazing creature. But where are they when the time for battle rolls around? You can’t tell no one has every thought of training trolls or making a deal with dryads before.
Ooh, walks are nice. I don’t do to many walks, but I do ride a lot to I’ll think about my novel while riding my horse. (I’ve even composed songs on horseback for my novel XD–the singing helps keep my horse calm and there’s no one listening lol)
Haha, I’ve always found it fun to base my characters slightly off my friends. Just like, maybe give them one or two traits that if they’re pointed out, make them seem like my friends. It’s also hilarious to see my friends trying to figure out which characters are them. 😉 Watching people irl is fun. I have sort of a bad resting face, so a lot of people think I’m glaring at them or something… and I wear sunglasses all summer(so no one can tell where I’m looking XD) and get paid to watch people all day(I’m a lifeguard lol). So yeah. I like watching people. 😉
Aww, thanks! I try my best to offer help. Plus, it’s one of my talents that I’m good at analyzing… well, everything, so why not put it to good use? XD Plus, I’m tired of reading terrible battle scenes.
And yes!! I hate it when there’s such a large cast of characters and no one dies. (Unless they’re all my darlings. Then you better not touch a hair on their head. *glare*) It’s just so unrealistic and predictable. I mean, I have attachments to my characters as well, but I still kill my darlings. XD I also put them through severe mental, emotional, and physical trauma, so… yeah. I’m mean to my darlings.
And Inkredible it is. 😉
