Okay, so now I have two questions. The first has to do with the commandments and the second has to do with morals.
1) What about all the laws that say “this is a permanent law for all your generations”?
Here’s a mostly complete list:
Exo. 12:14; 12:17; 27:21; 28:43; 29:9; 30:21; 31:16;
Lev. 3:17; 6:15; 10:9; 16:29; 16:31; 16:34; 17:7; 23:14; 23:21; 23:31; 23:41; 24:3; 24:9;
Num. 10:8; 15:15; 18:8; 18:11; 18:19; 18:23; 19:10; 19:21;A couple of these even add “no matter where you live”.
Now, a lot of these aren’t applicable because they are either directed to the descendants of Aaron or Levi, or they require the temple/tabernacle. But I’ve highlighted the ones that don’t rely on that. And as you can see, there’s a few.
Like I said, I’m not sure if that’s all of them or not.
So, my question is, did God not really mean it when he said “permanent”?
Second question:
2) Where do you draw the line between moral and non-moral laws?
For example:
Is working all seven days of the week morally wrong? The world wouldn’t say so, but the fourth of the ten commandments says to work only six days and to rest the seventh (Exo. 20:8-11). So, is it morally wrong?
Where do you draw the line?
I hope I’m not destroying your faith in asking these questions. I’m just curious what you have to say. I’ll give you my opinion on this if you want.
@nuetrobolt Sorry. I messed up your tag. 🙂
