Evelyn, your poem was beautiful in a childlike way. I loved it! it reminded me a lot of Robert Louis Stevenson’s poetry.

As for my hair, we have a family story where mom gave us the “Stranger Danger” talk, and I grabbed my curls and started crying. Mom asked what was wrong, and I sobbed, “They will take me first because of my curls!”

Yes, I was a very vain child.

Libby, that was a very sweet poem as well. I love the line “And even to the snake”.

Life

Sometimes life is all smiles and play,

Sometimes life’s the adventurous way,

Sometimes life is dangerous and gray,

And sometimes it’s much like today.

 

Today is a day just like any other;

With: school, chores, and my lovely mother.

Though sometimes we don’t understand each other,

And she makes me do what should go to my brother.

 

Sometimes I abhor the boring things,

And to adventure my heart clings,

But then again, sometimes life brings

The best of days when boredom rings.

 

Sometimes life is all smiles and play,

Sometimes life’s the adventurous way,

Sometimes life is dangerous and gray,

And sometimes it’s much like today.

I like it that way.
