What a sweet poem! I love it! It has a child-like sense of simple joy. I agree with @evelyn that you should keep posting them. I probably will do the same as well.
I just remembered a really old poem I wrote and was lucky enough to be able to hunt it down. I think it’s the first one I did. Its all written in red pencil with several misspellings and piecemeal capitalization (at least I capitalized “God”).
Golden Hair
Golden hair, golden hair.
It finishes a face that’s extremely rare.
Nobody will rip or tear
your little face of golden hair.
I would not hurt your little smile
for it brings more to the ten millionth mile.
I would not change your little nose
for it is the one that God chose.
I would not trade your little eyes
for a million bow ties.
And what about your golden hair?
It finishes a face that’s extremely rare
Your little face I’d rather hold
then a chunk of precious gold.
Golden hair, golden hair
it finishes a face that’s extremely rare
nobody will rip or tear
your little fae of golden hair.
It’s sweet until you realize I wrote it about myself! 😛 I clearly had vanity problems, and unfortunately this isn’t the only instance of me obsessing over the greatness of my own hair. 🙂
