For a time, I’m content to sit in watchful silence, observing the arrival of the others. Some take their time to adjust to the quiet atmosphere, taking in the details of their personalized seats with quiet awe while others bring a breeze of energy with them as they enter the room that all but sings with untold stories and answers to questions that haven’t yet been asked.

The back of my own chair, I know has my name woven into the vines dotted with oak leaves and acorns. I don’t need to see it again to know it’s there. What I find more intriguing is the delicate carvings in the table itself. There too, is our time, marked so that all others might read it.

Designed for introverts,  by introverts. I can’t help a small laugh at the thought. Truly, the Maker knows us well.

Taking a chance, now that I’ve regained some of my mental strength from the journey here, I pass a warm smile towards the others, trying not to be too obvious as I glance at the names carved for reference. Short term memory, don’t fail me now!

Gabby, Germaine, Grace, Kate, Rachel, Chalice, Noah. Seven others assembled thus far, and yet a few seats remained opened. “Were you also called to journey here, for this gathering?”

In chagrin, I realize I hadn’t really directed the question at anyone specifically, but with the words already out of my mouth, there wasn’t much I could do. Clearly, I had spent far too long alone on the road.
