@the-inkspiller You should probably invest in some pre-made adventures. It would be like trying to write a book having only listened to audio books your whole life. You might be able to pull it off, but the paragraph structures and other things you can only get from reading will be off. For instance you will need to know how much description the DMS are expecting for settings, or how structured the DM are expecting the adventures to be vs how much improvisation they will need to do.

You might be able to find some cheap ones you can download. I think Pathfinder is going through a reboot right now, and are handing out free adventure paths you can download. Again, I don’t know how similar they are to D&D, so maybe you could get one D&D one, and see if they match Pathfinder adventure paths in structure and style, and then get free Pathfinder adventures if they match.

About the Gameplay… I personally dislike having a bunch of rules to follow when I DM. If I was DMing, I would totally ignore all of those rules and improvise the entire thing. That’s is just me though. Obviously other people like having these rules, because I’ve seen other special rule sets like what you are describing. Part of my dislike is probably because my family always comes up with completely out of the box solutions to the problem. I’ll have this five step process they need to follow, and they will do something else entirely that would actually work.
