@wishingwell13 Oooh, interesting start! I’m getting a good feel for this guy’s character (his name is Jaydon, right?). I’m curious, is the rest of it in first person like that or does it switch to third person? Because if it did, that would be really cool.

Anyways, about this year: whoever said “Nothing could get worse than this” was obviously not around when Corenth went on a spying mission about 14 months ago.

I love that sentence…great foreshadowing from a very casual perspective. It was definitely what drew me in and made me want to know more. Also, “Honestly, writing isn’t my ‘thing'” is certainly a unique way to begin a book. 😀

The war was raging all around and he had yet another one of his wild ideas that he knew who was behind it all.

This sentence seems a little awkward. I would suggest splitting it into two sentences, for example, “The war was raging all around, and he had yet another one of his wild ideas. He believed he knew who was behind it all.” Or, “The war was raging all around, and once again he had the wild idea that he knew who was behind it all.”
