“I don’t know either.” She said in a nearly cracked voice. “I don’t know…”

Was this what it felt like to lose someone who actually cared about you…? That was numbing.

She was still speaking, softly, almost as if to herself.

“So many in this war, have lost fathers. Brothers, friends…” If there hadn’t been a war…would his father have loved him? It was a dumb question, maybe the war made him crazy but…it didn’t matter, it was a mute point.

“But he’s not dead, until we know he is.” Her voice changed as she stared up at him firmly. Determined. “Not until we know.”

Alessio nodded slowly. He’d probably agree with anything she said she seemed to have a will that could bend mountains. As long as there was a chance they had to keep going, but he wished he could be that hopeful and…courageous.

“Then we better get going, the sooner we make it through the trials the more likely we’ll catch up with him.” Assuming he was in the trials… He really couldn’t respond to emotions so he just reverted to logic. He backed out of their embrace uncertainly, still holding her shoulder lightly. “We’ll need to decide which mirror to enter and come up with a plan to make it through alive.”

Alessio glanced uneasily at Arsene, he still didn’t have answers for what he’d said…but he quickly looked back at Leana – assessing. “Can you use a weapon?”
