Ahab narrowed his eyes at the small crowd. He had almost laughed when Gnat — or Allen now, he supposed — said he was a cadet. Erin — the snotty lady — was no less snobbish than ever, and the Monkey/Couch Potato — Ehud — was just as fretful. Calixta had given her name, and now they all looked at him expectantly.

“The name’s Ahab.”

He had thought of adding Jehoahaz, which was his last name, but turned against it. The strange group would probably think it funny, and although it wasn’t, he got the feeling names were thought of differently here than in Rondona. They looked at him, as if waiting to see if he had anything more to his title.

“And that’s what you’ll call me. Now, how about we all go our separate ways?” He added shortly.
