@emma-starr – Awesome! I’ll take a look at it. Unfortunately, no. I don’t publish them anywhere. Though, my plan is to gather and write a bunch more and try to publish them as well as publishing them on websites like this and perhaps others. I don’t have a blog or website of my own yet but I’m in the process of getting a computer and creating one on there.

Yeah, I definitely want a book of poetry. Even if they weren’t to my total satisfaction. I want my thoughts to be more organized and later I’ll revise them and make them even better than before. Not like I’d publish them unfinished, or anything, but finished enough so that they are pretty good. (Maybe I’ll self-publish my first book then edit it to total [for then] satisfaction).

When I began to write poetry all I thought about was printing out my first poem that would get compliments from my parents. I think I failed on that part because I did a sort of very abridged version of Beowulf. It was only a half-page long, and I don’t think they liked it all that much. I think they were concerned for me. I showed it to my older brother who was into writing (here’s his website, you should check it out: http://matthewroland.net)

He was really into writing and was just getting into what is on his website there, though I’m sure it was very different from what it is now. Anyway, I still have that first print in a binder somewhere and that’s how I got started.

Earlier this year I got into a serious rut with eight-syllable-per-line poetry and although they were great, there was just too much of them. So I took a break and eventually picked up a book of Whitman’s work. It gave me sort of a free’er view on poetry and I tried writing like him. That helped some and right now I’m kinda drifting…but it’s working!
