Hello all Parimis!
Apparently I got confused at some point and your guildmaster…has not returned yet (she’ll probably be back tomorrow), so I thought I’d whip up a quick lesson for this week in her stead. (Actually, I’m cheating and I’m reusing a lesson I’ve used in my own guild–Meraki–because it also fits with your theme of pacing and…[Read more]

@writercatherine @steward-of-the-pen @esjohnson @evelyn @emily-d I’ll try writing the first draft, then; also, I’m using the name Dave as a placeholder for the time traveler. We can come up with a better one, but I might as well do this while I have time right now 😝

@steward-of-the-pen I didn’t see them till after 😛
And I love the idea of him ending up during the ten plagues. 😂 I can just imagine the havoc! What if it was the last place he was at, and we end the story with Leonardo coming back into his studio, and finding everything as he left it… except for an exceptionally large amount of frogs.…[Read more]

@steward-of-the-pen Before we go further, what is a chorkney? I’m super curious! It sounds cool.
@evelyn @writercatherine @cassie-hartfinh @julia @all-other-Parimis
So, what is the less unique angle then? I still like the diary idea. And yeah, I’m not really sure about the humour aspect either, but hey, Steward, don’t you think that the m…[Read more]

@steward-of-the-pen @evelyn @coggleton Whoa, thanks for all the answers everyone.
Steward and Evelyn-thanks for the world building tips and links 🙂
Coggleton, can you believe that mine is going to be at least 3 A4 sheets of tracing paper…ACHEM. XD The guild looks really cool too.

@emily-d YAY! I love worldbuilding! *happy dance* 🙂
Worldbuilding for me starts with asking questions, whether it’s something small like: “What is the terrain for this country like?” to “What do my people believe the stars are?” or something larger like: “What would it be like if trees could talk?”
Over the past year, I’ve come up with a list…[Read more]

Hey, Parimis!
Okay, so I am being very adventurous and branching out into writing a fantasy/alternate universe kind of book. I’m in the process of making maps by hand at the moment. Could any of you recommend a good online program for world-building? I’ve seen a couple but not sure what to do…or am I better off just drawing it and maybe…[Read more]

@steward-of-the-pen I would say that theme is slightly less important than comedy, since that is the main goal of this prompt. However, if you can include some nice theme, I know the judge would appreciate that. 😛
@writercatherine My main thoughts about uniqueness is that comedy is easily sacrificed for being unique, and you need to make sure…[Read more]

@steward-of-the-pen I see your point on uniqueness, but I’m still leaning towards it. Uniqueness is all well and good, but if everyone goes for uniqueness, the un-unique one becomes unique AND good writing and characters are some of the most important things. I think we could make that story a real powerhouse. But that’s just my opinion. Yeah, we…[Read more]

@steward-of-the-pen *backs away slowly* I don’t like simile bombs. I don’t like speaking only in similes. (I’m guessing that’s what that does?) BUT I HAVE COOKIES! *throws a cookie at the simile bomb*

@steward-of-the-pen I think that I like your diary idea and @julia ‘s idea best.
Question: if we did do the diary idea, would it be written by one person? Because it would be really cool for a writer to write for each character/group of characters (one for da Vinci, on for the evil artist, one for the trio). That way we could be using each…[Read more]

I really like the idea of using da Vinici’s point of view, and all of these things are going wrong. Especially when you mix in @julia ‘s idea and have these people smearing paint all over it. I really like that idea. So, we should make a choice and start more specific brainstorming, probably. @steward-of-the-pen I love your…[Read more]

Hello hello Parimis!
This is your stand-in guildmaster, and I’m here to call you to arms! War has been declared once again, and we must come out with full force.
Because J.A. Penrose is away for the week, I was already half guildmastering you for this war, but since she was gone, I volunteered her (I’m her cousin, so I’m allowed to do things…[Read more]
