@emily-d Well, my greatest weakness in worldbuilding is definitely making maps, mostly because I am not the greatest artist (perspective! Agh!). However, I’d much prefer to hand draw my maps (or hire someone else to draw it for me :P) than make a computer generated one. I just love the adventurous feel I get from a crumpled looking hand drawn map. *shrugs*
For worldbuilding in general, I prefer to do it on my own rather than use a website or a questionnaire. Those seem to force me to come up with details that are best left the same as in the real word. Basically, I like to have everything that’s different in my worlds be different for a specific reason. I start from the beginning (how the world was created), with the end in mind, and let everything else (history, geography, culture, magic, creatures) flow from that. Then everything has significance. Anyway, I like doing it that way, but in some situations I can see that it would work better to use pre-made questions. Just experiment and see what works for you and your story.
HAVE FUN! Worldbuilding is awesome, and if you come up with some good map-making techniques, please let me know, because I desperately need help. Especially with canyons xD
