I like your interpretation of the “appreciation of feminine genius” more 🙂 It does sound very much along the lines of his thinking.

I’ve read a few different books on them. “C.S. Lewis” by Janet and Geoff Benge is interesting (but aimed at a middle grade audience). There’s also “Surprised by Joy” by C.S. Lewis, which I haven’t fully read, but gives you his life story from his own words. There’s also “A Hobbit, A Wardrobe and A Great War” by Joseph Laconte which talks a lot about their friendship and involvement in WW1. Books on Tolkien I’ve read include “Tolkien: A Biography” by Michael White and “A Hobbit Journey: Discovering the Enchantment of J.R.R. Tolkien’s Middle Earth”, by Matthew Dickerson, which talked a lot about how his Catholic beliefs influenced his writing, and also talked a lot about his views and portrayals of women. There have been a few other books (devotionals based on their books and general stuff about LoTR and Narnia) but they’re not really relevant here.
