*grin* I haven’t done this in a while, let’s do it again. I’m just going to pick the most recent ones that sounds the best to answer because I don’t know how the system for questions is working these days, soooooo here we go.
Would your character rather live alone for the rest of their lives, but have the safety of their loved ones guaranteed, or live among their loved ones for ten years before they all die?
Kirin: He’d rather live alone for the rest of his life. Kirin cares about nothing more than the people he loves and keeping them safe, having them die because of him or a mistake he made(or anything he can somehow connect to one of his shortcomings) would be much worse than living alone. He’s also a very sociable person though at heart, so he’d probably go nuts after a while(a shorter while than most people… he’s a chatterbox XD). 😐
Jax: Jax would also probably live alone, but he’s the anti-social type anyhow so it wouldn’t bother him as much. He’s never really had friends to rely on the first place, so being alone is more comfortable for him than trying to navigate the nuances of verbal and nonverbal communication. (Leaves him so frustrated sometimes lol) He’s also quiet – much quieter than the resident motor-mouth Kirin, so it wouldn’t bother him as much. And like Kirin, once he does form connections with people, he cherishes that much more than his own comfort and life.
Shadow/Hayden: Shadow… is very clingy. We’ll say that. He cares very much about the people he loves, and it would be very hard for him to leave them even if it kept them safe. Intellectually, I think he’d probably say that he’d live alone, but when it comes down too it? He might not.
Vyrn: Vyrn’s exceeding stubborn, too much her own right, and she’d probably fight both answers to be honest and die trying or something. XD Nothing satisfies her unless it’s what she explicitly wants.
Would your character rather be able to visit a past version of themselves to prevent a mistake or visit a future version of themselves to get advice?
Kirin: Yes… and no. Kirin would love to get out of the mess he’s been in since he was a child, due to circumstances, but he’s also very wary of changing anything about who he is. He’s quite proud of who he’s become despite what he had to come through, and if he were to change that he’d probably be very unsure as to what he is without those life-changing mistakes. As for the future version – he’s also wary of looking into the future because he’s the type of dude who lived for ‘carpe diem’ and all that. Knowing his future self or asking his future self for advice would directly contradict that nature, and he’d also be confused of what to think with that knowledge.
Jax: Jax would probably do just about anything to fix what he holds as his greatest mistake in life – not taking care of his mother well enough when she was ill. He’d also love to fix his mistakes after he went into the occupation *cough* of a mercenary/rogue type dude, but he also might encourage his younger self to make those mistakes that led to that occupation sooner in life as well due to the fact it would bring in more money with meant he could get his mother taken care of. He’d also probably visit with his future self, because unlike Kirin Jax likes to try and predict the outcome of events before they happen – visiting his future self for advice could give him some very good clues of how his life would play out.
Shadow/Hadyn: Shadow doesn’t really acknowledge that he made mistakes until later on the book, but once he does he’s very guilty about them but also simultaneously struggling with the fact that he could make mistakes just due to the mentality of his upbringing. So I’d imagine he’d struggle a bit about deciding whether to learn what his future has in store or going back in time and putting his head straight on his shoulders sooner rather than later.
Vyrn: Vyrn would probably go back in time to offer her younger self a bit more confidence and motivation and also probably a clue or two about what’s going to happen so she’s not so darn confused. She’s also a bit more like Kirin with a carpe diem attitude, though she’d probably appreciate seeing her future self and what happened in the future to her kingdom and people rather than going back in time.
Would your character rather be stuck in a time loop for a month or stuck with their worst enemy for two weeks? (Note: They wouldn’t be able to kill each other if they were stuck with their enemy. Fight, yes, kill, no.)
Kirin: Oh dear… well, Kirin and Shadow are originally enemies, and I think the two half-bros would probably kill each other through debate before the two weeks were up. Kirin would also probably not do well in a time loop – he’d try to fix everything in one day like a Groundhog Day sort of deal and end up getting discouraged over and over again when he can’t make everything perfect.
Jax: Jax doesn’t really have a defined personal enemy, though you could say to some extent Kirin is his enemy at some points. They’re certainly quite opposite enough – Kirin with motor-mouth and impulsive decisions, Jax quiet and carefully calculated plans of strategy and finesse. I think if those two were stuck together Jax would either go mad within the first few days, or go to any means to prevent Kirin from talking. XD As for the time loop – I don’t think anyone does well in a time loop. Jax can’t calculate his way out of that, so it would be challenging if not maddening for him. He’d probably even choose Kirin over it, to be honest.
Shadow/Hayden: Shadow, stuck with Kirin for two weeks… they’d argue like all brothers do, and then some. They’d probably have several long and loud debates on certain moral and philosophical topics as well, ending with Kirin talking like Hamilton and Shadow enforcing the better points of a centralized monarchy with some amount of passion. I’d imagine they’d come out a little worse for the wear from a few physical fights as well, but since both are rather diplomatic and lawyer-like by nature words are the better weapon.
Vyrn: Vyrn’s enemy would be also Shadow. (He’s the main antagonist for 2/3 of the series really, cut him some slack). If stuck together, I don’t know honestly if they’d come out with 1/3 of their bones broken or as best friends. As for the time loop…. Vyrn herself would probably choose the time loop over Shadow, but she’d probably do better with Shadow than with the time loop since he’s in all honesty not a terrible person. XD
Alright, so now a new question… hmm.
Would your character rather live through their worst mistake again, or have someone close to them make the same mistake?
Have fun. 😉
