I’m going to share this article, because I think’s its really important and not nearly talked about enough (I only recently even learned about this at all)

We talk about ‘Show don’t tell’ a lot, but we don’t really talk about proper ways of showing versus poor ways of showing which means *sigh* not all showing is perfect either. And I can definitely see the author of the article’s point. The main point here is that just because you show your character with a hammering heart to let the reader know the character’s afraid, they still might not necessarily connect with the character. I disagreed somewhat with how far the author took it- I think some of that showing strengthens a scene, and not using it can require you to rely really heavily on internal monologue, but overall I found it helpful.
