This all makes sense, and it’s really insightful, with one exception. I’ve learned that occasionally you have to have a chapter where the reader can breathe…not a lot of tension, not a huge frustrating or dangerous event,…something that somewhat more resembles “real life.” How would this method apply to those types of “breathable” chapters?

I’m afraid the idea that good writers don’t need editing or rewrites is why there are so many self-published books out there that shouldn’t be. This is a good article. Thank you.
