    @mamaauthoress

    WOW that is an amazing drawing … *applauds* I love the facial expression.

    Thank you! I’m actually just coming out of art block and it feels so great to create stuff I like again XD I’ve always struggled with expressions so I went to the other extreme.

    @calidris

    I feel like Sasha and Basil (and quite possibly Skia as well) are all shockingly obtuse, but in completely opposite ways.  Sasha is so obtuse that he interprets basic politeness as attraction (because no one is ever nice to him, so it must mean she’s attracted, right?), while Basil is so obtuse he would interpret a literal kiss as a mark of friendship (“she must think of me as a very good friend to get this close to me.  It’s an honor, and I shouldn’t do anything to ruin it again.”)

    Tbh Basil is just extremely confused on the ideas of both friendship and romance, since he has had very little experience with either

    Oh my gosh they’re so dumb I love it XD That is so in character for both of them and also just objectively hilarious XD I wanna see Basil get kissed and then go “So, we’re like… friends?” and someone makes eye contact with Sasha and he’s like “We shall be married at dawn!” XD

    Well that’s an excellent idea, but if I go that route then it means I can’t give Basil needle trauma, so I guess they feel pain just like everyone else here!

    That sounds way worse out of context.  It’s not that bad…is it?

    I mean, don’t we all have needle trauma to some extent?  From doctors’ offices?  As kids?

    Oh, we all do I think *cough* dentists *cough*

    Sasha’s been in so many fights he’s probably used to it by now tbh.  Maybe he’s got a really high pain tolerance?  That would make him Basil’s opposite in yet another way – they’re complete opposites not only in personality, but in appearance as well!

    That’s what makes them so fun to read!

    @everyone

    I realized I’ve been writing Aydin wrong for quite a while. I got too stuck feeling sorry for him and trying to make him likeable that I rather overdid it. He’s coming across as a sweet innocent martyr which he is NOT.

    I love him dearly and he didn’t deserve anything that happened to him and he deserves all happiness and unconditional love in the world but he’s done bad things deliberately with full knowledge of the harm it would cause others. He isn’t a misunderstood victim, he’s a redeemed villain, but a villain nevertheless.

    Broken people have sharp edges and he’s no exception. He’s also a lot more dangerous than he’s been letting on, partially because he does feel useless. He’s not nice, or friendly. He’s kind but more out of principle than because he actually likes or trusts anyone.

    I actually wrote him right in canon but ended up messing up here in the castle XD In canon he’s much more bitter and sarcastic, often selfish and always suspicious.

    Admittedly, this in the castle wasn’t really out of character, but it was just one side of him, the softer more vulnerable side. It’s interesting because that’s a defense mechanism too. He’s trying to make himself look harmless so he doesn’t get antagonized, and I think that was partially because he felt like everyone was dangerous.

    I think this might have shifted as well, that he sees them more as equal so he switches to another side of his personality.

    (He has so many sides, more than literally any other character. It’s canon that he can behave so differently that he’s literally barely recognizable when he needs to)

    Basically, he’s going to be taking a turn for the unlikeable and I don’t know how that will turn out but be prepared! And thank you for coming to my Ted talk XD
