Thanks so much for your answers! I do like to categorize things, but I was a bit concerned about not wanting a label to wind up defining a character. Which isn’t really an actual issue for me because my characters are themselves and categorizing them other ways doesn’t change that. So unnecessary worry?
Anyway.I understand what you mean, and it’s a good thing to think about! I think considering it is a great start! Also yes categorizing things is the best and the Way To Go XD
One of my characters, Ríadnu Seorsavrel, has made me kind of wonder if he’s autistic. At first I thought it was just the extremely unusual circumstances around his life/development, but since I’ve been getting to know him better I haven’t been sure. I’ll certainly look into the possibility now. Getting that figured out will probably help his interactions with other characters. Not that it’s a problem, but he’s really quiet (unless you give him a harp!), and I need to get his actions around and discussions with another character right. Btw what Calidris said about these ND characters being/not being pretty… Ríadnu could have the word “princeling” applied to him
OOOHHH I remember you mentioning him!! THAT’S SO COOL! Also, I totally know what you mean, like a lot of characters you just go ‘oh yeah that’s trauma’ until you take a closer look at it.
If it helps, @calidris once gave me some great advice when I was doubting Aydin. She told me to imagine if they had grown up in completely normal circumstances. Would they still have those traits? For Aydin, that was a resounding yes.
Side note: what does that emoji even mean? It seemed to fit, but I really have no idea.
I’ve always taken it as kinda wry, very slightly sarcastic. Again, I don’t quite know XD
Cool, I bet he loves it! I’d probably hate it XD. Most perfumes drive me nuts.
LOL, same XD
Neurosparkly that’s an awesome word smash.
I love both Neurosparkly and ‘Neurospicy’ because the existence of ‘mild autism’ implies the existence of spicy autism XD
Huh. So that has a name. *remembers the times I’ve panicked and practiced in my brain before phone calls even to simple, mundane restaurants *
Oh MOOD restaurant interactions are the worst! My constant internal monologue is just that meme ‘I need to get a good grade in *normal interaction* something that is both normal to want and possible to achieve’ XD
Yeah, my first day at work (photography studio, yay!) my boss thought I sounded Bulgarian. And I’m not at all Bulgarian. 😆
Oh that’s SUCH a cool job! And goodness, I totally relate to that, once my accent in Dutch was described as ‘either British or Eastern European’ which… completely wrong in hilarious ways XD
Oh Jade looks COOL! I love how you did that! I love the shading on her blouse especially!
