@r-m-archer I know this is sudden, but since you have published and you write in two genres I like, would you like to be on my Google Docs fo my book? I like to have people older than me, who have writer backgrounds but also, don’t know me at all. I have two people on there already and two others that I email so don’t feel like you have to do it if you don’t want too but another opinion is what I love.

    • Hi Rae!
Could you tell me more about your book and what sort of feedback you’re looking for? The genre, length, deadline, and a brief description of the story would be helpful–as well as whether you’re looking for big-picture or more specific feedback. I rarely do beta-reading since starting as a professional editor, but I’m willing to consider it with a bit more information. 🙂

      • Sure! I have someone who wields a red pen and two others who mark whatever jumps out at them and another who basically leaves a ‘thumbs up’ most of the time. Whatever you are good at, you can do. Opinions and criticism is more than welcome!
Genre: sci-fi set in the Wond Galaxy with a tech level at a step above or at Star Wars.
Length: Finished: about 34 chapters, currently: 6.
Deadline: I would like to have it published or ready to publish by 2024-2025.
Brief description: The book begins with my MC (named Nahim Nayhelm, last of his family-clan) looking upon his ruined home. It is an attention grabber salted with backstory. Skip forward about 4 years and he’s on a bounty team with his best friend, Mandin. They are both Realn which are a warrior people. Think Mandalorian but WAY cooler (as in if Nahim met Din Djarin, Nahim would most likely win) and mostly Christian, but, I promise when I made them up when all I knew about the Mandalorians was they looked cool, fought a lot, and that two of them were named Boba Fett and Din Djarin. From Mandin and Nahim bounty hunter team it somehow evolves into getting captured, fighting a monster, an experimental squadron of fighters, a little more bounty hunting, doing something Nahim couldn’t mentally do before, berserker, rallying voice for his home planet, political taxiing, dragons, and ends with Realn hero. And then to add to the cupcake, (this is a minor character but I have to mention him) the sprinkles of Krogen the one who drives everyone nuts but is the coolest of all! Nahim does believe in God but he’s having some issues with his faith that I think becomes very noticeable in the second chapter. I would call them trust issues.
If you want to read the first chapter, I did post it on Sci-fi writers forum and I also posted a short story I did about Nahim and his family.
I have no other ending to this that I can think of so,
        -Ru

Could you email me a link to the chapters you have, if it’s in Google Docs, or email me a file if it’s not? I have some thoughts based on your description, but I’d like to read what’s actually been written before I jump to anything and I’d like to be able to send you direct broad-scale feedback. If that works for you, my email is rysa.m.archer@gmail.com

        I hope you’re having a great day!
