I watch as the others greet this newcomer and her cute-but-pokey little friend, and can’t help but smile, in welcome, and also in joy that Grace noticed her and invited her over.

As she poured out her story, it tugged on my heart. I couldn’t understand it all from experience, but fear and I are old enemies. I did know from experience that sometimes words just don’t cut it, and right now, I have none to offer.

I rose from my chair, over the arm once again, and circled the table till I stood beside Eden’s place. I don’t know why, but she struck me as a huggy person, so I went with that hunch. Opening my arms to her, I hoped she didn’t come hedgehog first.
