*nods* I think the difficulty becomes in focusing on what you’re doing these days. For example, even with reading I find that my brain wants to jump out of whatever I’m doing and go check something, whether a forum or a game or whatever. I blame the evil internet marketing machine. The most annoying thing is when something reminds me of a song, then I want to listen to it again, then I’ll find that I’ve spent three hours on the computer doing nothing but listen to songs and check forums and check email and check on my internet chess matches. Check, check, checkmate your time! 😛

(and I don’t even have facebook)

The way to avoid this is to remember that reading and writing is far more rewarding and feels better (it does) then checking. Focused work yields bigger payoffs than succumbing to the evil empire. Which should put you right back into your story because clearly your hero needs to avoid succumbing to the evil empire. 😛

But as someone who asked about writing goals, this is indeed helpful. Another way to fight this particular blood snail is to talk to people about what you’re supposed to be doing to someone who may be interested, which helps you focus and get motivated, heh. Use the forums to your advantage instead of as a weight you have to drag around. Anywho, good stuff.
