    @rose-colored-fancy

    After Calidris saw that she sent me an entire persuasive essay on why I have to watch it, so I believe I’m outnumbered XD I’ll see if I can watch it after exams! It does sound really cool!

    Wait, an entire essay…? xD Can’t blame her.

    You say you like crazy & chaotic in your characters… Well, you’ll find everything you want here. The volleyball idiots are the best idiots <3

    It is! I think it’s called that because the stalks are hollow. Lots of names are descriptive like that, it’s really pretty!

    Isn’t that so for almost any language? Even English isn’t half bad sometimes. (Even though I will always feel like English is the least impressive language on Earth. I’m just biased like that)

    It’s lovely when characters actually choose not to be brats XD What’s your other WIP about?

    Okay, I’m only sort of obsessed with this one too… It’s a middle-grade urban fantasy (I don’t read a lot of that, but the vibes are pretty impeccable) about a brother & sister named Hans and Greta who, upon moving back to their family’s hometown, a fictional city-state called Grimoire, discover that most of its population, including themselves, consist of the descendants of famous fairytale characters :O As I’ve mentioned, Hans is very stubborn and really likes to dig his heels in when it comes to entering the craziness of his new world, which drives me nuts because his inheritance is the catalyst for some pretty important events in the story. Basically, each descendant receives the “inheritance” of one of their ancestors (from either one of their parents) and carries on that “legacy” by carrying its name and, if there are any, curses or powers associated with that name.

    Beyond just the “magical” aspect of it though, the Grimoireans are known to cling to their traditions, mostly because of how tangible they are in their daily lives. (e.g. A descendant of Rapunzel can’t exactly deny her inheritance if she has to get a haircut every other week because of how ridiculously fast it grows, etc.) There are pros to this… and there are a lot of cons. Not the least of which being the societal hierarchy that put those with “better” inheritances at the top. And by “better” we mostly mean the “Charming Clan”–the name for the five most influential families, whose specific fairytales I’m sure you can guess 😉 The main storyline of this series (yes, a series) revolves around Hans and Greta’s attempts to navigate this bizarre new life, the friends they make along the way, the dark secrets hidden behind the Charmings’ glittering exterior, and everything surrounding their own family legacy…

    I wanted to play around with fairytale-world tropes in this one. For example, I had Hans and Greta be associated with a well-known but rather unpopular fairytale (and a fable, but that’s on their mother’s side and I can’t tell you everything can I?). For another example, I decided Grimoire should be a big city instead of a small town, because I don’t have experience in living with small towns, and I like writing in city settings. And my favorite part is, of course, the characters. Oh boy, the characters.

    As kind of a huge joke and also something of a casual experiment, all the main “Disney princess” fairytale characters will be represented by male descendants. Not because I have an agenda to push or anything xD but because I really, really wanted to know what a teenaged boy whose family legacy is Snow White would be like (the answer being, naturally: pure chaos), and it is just so much fun.

    End ramble for the day. I think out of all my stories, it’s most fun for me to talk about this one, because it sounds like it actually makes sense and has a plot or something.
