Well, introverted-elf, (love the name) developing grabbing plot-lines is something I love trying to do. I’ll see if I can provide some tips. 😉

The first thing I have in mind when developing plots is: what grabs me? What kind of stories interest me? I look at some of my favorite stories and note what about them in particular grab my attention.

Don’t worry about what other people think yet, but go for a plot that would entertain you. Keep in mind, there’s a wide range of people who probably have the same interest in the stories and plots you do.

Well developed characters with intriguing backstories are always a bonus. Especially mysterious characters with a few tricks up their sleeves.

I try to explore new ideas and “what ifs” I have yet to see anybody explore themselves. And then I try to sum it up in one grabbing sentence or question, and make that statement or question the setting for the story.

As for the plot itself, it is my characters’ job to try and tackle the grabbing sentence or question throughout the story. How they do that is totally up to you. How each character is developed will influence how they’re trying to tackle the problem, which gives you the plot.

Hope I was of some help!
